"The Doc is Back", tribute to an 80's classic.

This is my first posting on CGSociety and my first completed 'digital painting'. I came up with the idea because of a (rough and unfinished) drawing I once made of 'an old man on a glider’. (I will post the wip later in the wip-section.) He reminded me of ‘the doc’ from “Back to the Future” (Christopher Lloyd). So, one of the paintings I started with was the idea of “The Doc is Back”.

Some goals I set for this painting: hone my color skills, keeping the 'painted poster' look, integrate it into a 'movie poster design',

I used a movie still for reference for the doc's face. (I will post that as well.) I also wanted to practice my portrait skills after seeing some amazing paintings by Nicco di Mattia.
